Baby Reunion

The past week has been packed with many exciting things and activities. The week began with a long Labor Day weekend. We had so much fun visiting with family and enjoying one last grill fest before fall. Ellie got to see her great uncles Al and Vern this weekend for the first time. This was very exciting to me as I am very close to them. Growing up I also knew that if I needed something they were only a phone call away. I hope that Ellie will also have a close relationship with them.

Another important reunion took place on Saturday. Our family along with all the other families that had conceived through our infertility clinic gather together for an afternoon of fun. We had sandwiches and cake to eat, and bands, balloons and a clown for entertainment. I am sure that I can speak for most of the families when I say the best part of the day was celebrating with the amazing staff that help to make our children possible. It was such a wonderful experience to allow Ellie to meet Dr. Meyer and Dr. Couchman, and to express our gratitude for their help through infertility. Both of these amazing doctors are great physicians, but also kind and compassionate in the darkest hours. Thank you again. Here is a picture of Ellie and her doctors.

Outtings with Baby Ellie

This is a question - Why does it take so long to leave the house for a couple of hours with a baby? I wish I had an answer, but I don't understand, why I am now so much slower than before Ellie was born. Today was a perfect example of this new trend in my life. I woke up at 7:20 to get ready to leave for MOPS at 8:40. This should have been no problem, but a series of mishaps and I ended up not leaving the house until 8:55. I think that the lack of sleep is finally catching up with me. I am asking myself when she will sleep through the night, and I know that it will happen in the future weeks or months. She will be four months old on Thursday, and I have been told that six months is the magic age. Is this really true?? Any advise on getting Ellie to sleep through the night is welcome.

Park Playdate

Today Ellie and I met our small group of Mops at a local park for a quick get to know you gathering prior to the first official meeting next week. We are one of ten in our small group, and the only one with only a baby. The day started off very hectic - why is that it takes twice as long to get ready when we have a destination with a time? It was in the low 60s here so Ellie spent much of the park time in her stroller under her blanket. She enjoyed the stroll and meeting the other older toddlers. We ended the gathering with a walk around the lake where we saw turtles and a couple of ducks. I can't wait until next week. Mops will be the first time that Ellie is in baby daycare for more than the one hour at the gym once a week. I hope that it goes well, and we get better at getting out the door on time.

Lunch with Daddy

Today Ellie and I went to meet daddy for a quick lunch. We went to El Dorado - which is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I am so glad that Ellie is tolerating dairy better now than when she was first born. I even got to have cheese on my taco. As a new mom its the small things that are like diamonds. The midday meeting allowed Ellie to get a little quality play time with daddy. We then went back to daddy's office, where Robby had to show Ellie all around the office. Several of our friends work with daddy, so Ellie had fun seeing everyone. Robby's boss said that he talks about her all the time. I am so lucky to have him as my husband.

Baby Ellie

Ellie is growing so fast!! It seems that every day is a new discovery. She is rolling over from her stomach to back easily at this point, but she is not rolling the other way. We have had a very exciting week so far. Ellie and I had lunch with my old co-workers at Winstons. She was the hit of the gathering. I hope that she has my love of math. School is starting, and I am missing the excitement of the first day. This is the first year in 25 years that I am not starting school as either a student or teacher. I know that I will visit Millbrook often, and Ellie will love the Wildcats as much as I do.
